The True Meaning of life..

“Now there is one outstandingly important fact regarding Spaceship Earth, and that is that no instruction book came with it”
— Buckminster Fuller
In spite of all the
pseudo-intelligence
and dreamlike chicanery
I weave into my words,
I am not the meaning of life
for I am only 28.
As we all know,
the real meaning of life
the answer to everything
the secret ingredient
the [...]

Certainty

If we had awakened
too early at first light,
blossomed too early
with the crocuses
at the first signs of Spring,
we would have withered long before
the lilies bloomed
and the fruits of summer ripened
and with it
my dignity
my self-respect
my one last chance to enjoy
the long awaited revelation
would have died in the wind
that cries your name…

The Traveler

In the stillness the voices die
each word carrying
the weight of the wind
As for my own, they were
stolen from me.
Too many lifetimes ago I sought
the meaning of the truth
only to have it vanish through my fingertips,
every particle hitting life’s rocky shores
and shattering into a thousand pieces.
Too many dreams I held like a child in my fragile [...]

The Woman Who Dances with Shadows

(Feeling a bit Irish, I guess…)
One cold rainy autumn morning
for reasons only fate knows
a flame haired gypsy came face to face
with the woman who dances with shadows
and she offered the gypsy a lover
who stirred passions that she’d never known
but bewitched by a spell, the lover chose
the woman who dances with shadows.
Her flames burned long in [...]

The Call of Silence

All the things you have seen
no man should ever see
The moments pass
but those screams never cease
the scars never heal.
A hero’s welcome for some
for you a job to be done…
You felt the gunshots
smelled the sulphur
Acrid smoke
cries of the fallen -
from their side -
from yours -
hiding in trenches
watching each footstep
deafening echoes
of bombs and sudden death
Some forging ahead
with [...]

The Knocking

I hear your knocking
and soft faint scratching
like some hungry animal
crying, clawing.
Yet how can I let you
in the door
when it only opens
from one side -
Yours?
I hear the rhythm
of your heart
distant but familiar
high up in my tower
looking down.
If the walls collapse
and the dam breaks
it could crush us both
beneath the weight.
I hear your voice
deep and strong
like the arms [...]

It’s 12:25 AM
Only 6 hours until
the train to reality
pulls back into the station.
Still the thoughts
the voices
the calamity in the silence
won’t let me
chase the demons
back down the tunnel
or grant me
the temporary pass
into the land of dreams.
Probably the effects
of too much tea
too much excitement
too much anxiety
too much thinking about
what should have been
what could have been
what isn’t..

Wedding Day

To each her own..
Another amazing woman
ribbons and white dresses
charges across the threshold
taking a leap of faith
Shedding the past like a second skin
A chance to start all over
The torch burns out in the old world
and tomorrow looms ahead.
Another amazing woman
can’t write the lines down fast enough
spilling from her head
onto blank white canvas
the poet’s touch
the real deal
her [...]

Quagmire

I need to get out
and let the world
bring my colors to life
and illuminate my shadows.
Life should be so much more
than a mass of computer searches
black and white phrases
pointless pass times
the whirring of fan blades
in small empty rooms.
What about
the ruby red trees
covered bridges
fireflies in the forest
the soft, stirring echoes
of birds in flight
and dancing around bonfires
on cool [...]

Silent lament

Drawing up the blinds
staring out into the night
searching for your face
Peering through the glass
hoping for a ray of light
to fill the empty space
Melancholy dreams
wrapped up in a thundercloud
smolder in my soul
Running for the door
maybe just a whisper there
maybe something more
but the amber moon
shines a wicked smile at me
hiding in this room
guess it wasn’t so
guess it [...]
