The Pain Mementos

A friend and I were deep into discussion this weekend when she mentioned she had found an old love note from a former lover. She picked it up and read it, and all at once the old memories came crashing over her. She decided it was in her best interest to tear up the note [...]

My beloved collection of blown glass dragons guarding my window…
I discovered while cleaning this evening that my beautiful dragons were practically hidden from view by all the various odd and end decor I had on this table. As much as I loved the ships and lighthouses surrounding this case, they just had to go. Sometimes less is [...]

(A little self-motivation)
One of my friends has a quote on his site, “Being happy doesn’t mean everything’s perfect; it means that you decided to look beyond the imperfections.”
I’ll be the first to admit my life is anything but perfect. I’m so good at messing up that it’s hard to recall anything close to a single perfect [...]
It’s not glamorous; it’s just business…

Tonight I took a few more steps into my decision to find simplicity in my life: six bags went to the Goodwill and four into the trash. Sadly, my apartment still does not look like I have done much to it. It’s a clear sign that something is lacking in my life as I seem [...]

Right now I am trying to write a character reference letter for a friend and struggling with it. What do you say about ten years of friendship in the course of two paragraphs? I have never written a letter of this nature so it’s a little difficult to summarize.
I guess I have never been fond [...]
When fate closes one door…

It’s amazing the kind of closure that fate can bring. Sometimes when I can’t clean up my own messes, she steps in to assist me.
This year has been the year of closure in so many ways: I found and lost a friend I’d wondered about for years. I met my online best friend of ten [...]

I’m counting the days until the 4 day weekend. This is probably the first time in many years I haven’t had to work Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, and it’s a good feeling.
It’s funny how the holidays always feel so rushed and crazy, yet mine are surprisingly lazy this year. Aside from the few [...]
Playing for Keeps and Letting Go

One of the hardest parts of dealing with emotional clutter is cutting the ties with people who have been in my life a long time. I realize this is difficult for everyone, but I absolutely struggle with this. I have a tendency to let bad things go on for years before I get fed up [...]
