- What I Would Say To You
You are intelligent
Charming
Witty
Attractive
With a world world of other attributes -
too many to mention.
Yet you are weak
Fallen
Beaten like a dog
Collapsing in on yourself
like a crumbling statue.
I just don’t get you.
You are completely amazing
yet you toss it away
in fits of blind chance;
Gambling love tokens
on rigged tables
Battling invisible dragons
with a broken sword
rather than facing the odds
of the unknown.
- Broken Vows
You wanted to see me dance
unlike the men who never wanted to
and never cared.
Somehow that made your flaws seem
a little less important.
Then somewhere above us
the buds of reality bloomed
and chaos erupted
into flocks of stars.
You slipped into the chasm
and I could see you reaching towards daylight
from the other side of the glass.
Now your light has bled into the shadows
and your words are pale wisps of smoke -
Tendrils of memories lifting
and floating away in the wind.
Ah ha! I knew you were a poet at heart. You’ve written two lovely pieces. I particularly loved “gambling love tokens on rigged tables” from the first and “Now your light has bled into the shadows” from the second. If this is how you ramble, then for god sake, keep rambling, send it away and publish it!
In fact, I’m going to challenge you to make this a weekly event. One poem on this blog every week. Whaddya think?
Challenge accepted. Now we’ll see if I can live up to it…but I’ll do my best!
Excellent!
