Character References…
Right now I am trying to write a character reference letter for a friend and struggling with it. What do you say about ten years of friendship in the course of two paragraphs? I have never written a letter of this nature so it’s a little difficult to summarize.
I guess I have never been fond of writing letters of any kind. I’m terrible at emails, writing cover letters, etc.. I usually have the best luck with cover letters when I throw caution to the wind, skip all the protocols, and just write from the heart. If I am unable to do so, then it’s usually a good indication that I’m not particularly interested in the job. I am trying to use the same attitude in reference to this letter; the only difference being someone else will be using this letter to get hired instead of me. Therefore, I have to be a little more cautious about abandoning protocol. I am venting here because I am trying both to clear my writer’s block and to figure out the best way to organize my thoughts on this project. I think I have avoided it for a couple of days for this reason..I’m not sure what I want to say.
I don’t really have an ending for this, but maybe I’ll be back with some suggestions for letter writing once the fog has lifted.
